Awards Excitement for Local Sporting Hero
Rachel Hildreth joined our growing list of award winners when she represented cricket at the Minster FM Local Hero Awards 2008.
Following a phone call informing her she was down to the final three, Rachel and her family were invited to attend a glamorous awards ceremony at the Park Inn in York.
The formal dinner included a live performance from chart star David Jordan (Sun Goes Down) and was capped in some style when Rachel was named as winner of the ‘Sporting Hero Award’.
The award was given for Rachel’s commitment to cricket and achievements to date and she got a huge round of applause for scoring 116 not out for Yorkshire Under 13s.
The award was sponsored by Rutherford's of Stamford Bridge.
Rachel finished up the evening being interviewed for the radio. The family had a great evening and were made to feel very special by everyone involved.
As a follow-up to the event Minster FM presented Rachel with a cheque for £200 to go to her nominated charity.
Rachel has chosen to give the money to ‘Leukaemia Research’ which is a charity close to her family’s heart.
Congratulations to Rachel on her award!!
