It may have been a challenging season but there has been some success for Yorkshire.

Following her selection for the ECB Development Squad that represented England in the ICC European Championships, Rochelle Petty was nominated for The Northern Echo Local Heroes Awards 2007 - Most Inspiring Team Player (Junior) Award.

It was a Petty family outing to Hardwick Hall Hotel, Sedgefield and a good evening was had by all. Not only were there the poshest portaloos anyone had ever seen, but the family also got to meet Steve McClaren and David Beckham, although Barry was not too impressed when Beckham invited his two daughters out on the town afterwards.

Rochelle as one of only three worthy nominees in the category, and the only one from Yorkshire, represented the county with pride and professionalism, helping to raise the profile of women’s cricket in the process.
